Five big SEO internet marketing
No - No's
1. Don't......
Let the office 'dabbler' interfere with your
website.
A lot of people think the geek or the I.T guy must be an Internet expert
because they use computers.( Not all I.T guys are geeks!!). Internet
Marketing is a skill on its own and many website designers don't even
dabble with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
2. Don't .....
Wait for Google
Having a nice website that makes your business look like you are a major
player will not earn you a penny if nobody can find it. Despite many
advertising claims, there is no automatic marketing system that boosts
your website in the number one position of Google.
Sitting and waiting for search engines to list you is financial suicide.
3. Don't...
Use so-called website submission software.
The only way to submit your URL to major search engines is manually.
However if you have a good link building strategy, you don't even need
to submit your website to any search engines. They will find and index
your website quicker than you submitting and waiting!
4. Don't....
Join Link Farms.
You may achieve links to thousands and thousands of other websites but
it will do your website more harm than good. Google looks for relevance
in your links, for example if you have a website that sells children's
wear and the link farm links you to a website that sells knives and
other weapons ... you will be on the fastest route down.
5. Don't
Try and trick search engines
Stuffing your website with keywords in the same colour text as the background
colout to make them invisible to the human eye is old hat, it doesn't
work. I could list many 'black hat'* tactics but I suggest do
a Google search for 'Unethical Search Engine Tactics' and learn the
latest and freshest.
*Black Hat marketers use unethical tactics, whilst white hat
internet markets comply with ethics. Just like the old Wild west movies,
the guy in the black hat is the baddy and the other in the nice clean
white hat is the good guy.
